Greetings and Salutations

Starting off my new blog with the famous quote by J.D. (aka Christian Slater) from one of the coolest movies from the 80s - Heathers. Ah yeah, I'm a bit of an 80s nut but I can't help it as they were my teenage years and bring back lots of fond memories.

So why a new blog? Why not, I say and I wanted to try a different style. If I had the time I'd spend some more time playing around with it but time is precious. Quick update on where I am right now and where I want to be. My son (hereinafter referred to as 'B') decided to leave school where he was doing Year 12 as he wasn't motivated. After a few months he scored himself one of only ten positions in a youth training program called the GreenCorps. Apparently heaps of applications were sent in so I'm guessing Brandon showed his passion and enthusiasm in the interview. He is a hippie at heart, and loves animals and the earth. It's a 6 month program and at the end they obtain a Cert I in Conservation and Land Management, OHS and First Aid certificates. They also have great opportunities for further work in the associated fields including the CFA, DSE, horticulture, Parks and Reserves.

He also moved out of home 2 weeks ago. That was tough. Earlier in the year I was having sessions with a Life Coach helping me with some issues in that area. It's just been me and him for the past 17 years (I'm a single mum) and it's like losing a leg. I'm alot better this week but I miss him heaps. So does Buffy the cat. I get to see him most days as I pick him up in the mornings and drop him off at his pickup point, and Sundays he comes over for lunch and a visit. We have grown even closer if that's possible and he's shown me how mature he really is.

So I now have "time" to do the things I've always wanted to do. I say time in quotes as I'm still busy with work but do have a little more time than usual. My first goal is to lose weight so I feel confident to go out and meet new people and socialise a bit more with friends. I have about 27kg to lose and aim to lose 17kg of that by the end of the year. Consistency is a big thing with me so that will be my main focus for the next 6 months. I just need to be consistent in eating right and exercising and I will get there. I've booked in to do one of Emazon's Stand Your Ground workshops in September so would like to be fitter than I am now before I do that!

Okay, that is enough for my first post and it's way past dinner-time so have to go now. I'll be back tomorrow to post my current weight and measurements (ouch), and my plans for the next week.
